Microscope images of aquatic life. All are fresh samples from the sea or the inland waterways in southern Finland.
In addition to being too small to observe, many microscopic species or their body parts are moving too fast for human eye to follow. Here the motion has been stopped by flash exposure, some down to 1/12500 second. All images in differential interference contrast. They are single images, not stacked, but several are color reversed for increased contrast. Total magnifications between 100-400x.
